FOOD FEST - Yes, I know there will be music going on ( Little Feat, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Marshall Crenshaw), but, hello, the food!
The first ever American Food & Music Fest is coming to my area on Saturday June 13th at the Shoreline in Mt. View. Billed as a "Celebration of great American food, chefs, musicians and winemakers" it will be hosted by Bobby Flay, Guy Fieri and Ed Levine.
Current restaurants from around the country that will be providing food (and they say more are being added): Pinks Hot Dogs from LA, Katz's Deli from New York, Anchor Bar (Buffalo Wings) from Buffalo, Juniors Cheesecake from New York, Zingermans (bacon sampler)from Michigan, Graeters Ice Cream from Cincinnati (supposedly Oprah's favorite), Southside Market Barbecue from Texas, Tony Lukes from Philly (think cheese steaks) and Barney Greengrass from New York (think bagels).
There will also be a tent featuring locally grown cheese, cured meats, breads, chocolate, jams, oysters and local grown fruits and vegetables. There will also be a wine tasting event, a "pick the best burger in the Bay Area" contest and cooking demonstrations by Bobby Flay, Guy Fieri, Michael Symon (who me have a little crush?), David Kinch (Manresa), Nate Appleman (A-16), Nancy Oakes and Bruce Aidells.
A festival ticket (which includes admission and one plate of food) is $35. There are separate tickets for the wine tasting all the way up to a $526 ticket which includes admission to all events, a meet and greet with Bobby, Guy and some of the others, admission to the wine event, VIP parking and more.
Me....I just want to go for the food! For more information go here.
SHARE DENNY'S WITH A FRIEND -I saw quite a few folks hanging around outside our local Denny's this morning on my way to work. Another free meal day? Sorta. Up until 2PM today, if you ordered a Grand Slam Breakfast, an accompanying friend or family member could get a Grand Slam sandwich for free. The "Slamwich" has scrambled egg, seasoned sausage, crispy bacon, shaved ham, mayonnaise and American cheese grilled on potato bread with a maple spiced spread. This baby will set you back 1320 calories! Man, that's my whole days allotment in one breakfast sandwich.
MORE DRAGON CAKES - In my continuing search for a Dragon birthday cake I can at some point make for my cousin (wonder if he'll still like dragons when he turns 75??) I came across the Color and Design blog which showcased "Colorful Cake Art". Wow is all I have to say and yes, cute Dragon! Check it out here.
Food Fest sounds fun! I'd go for the Bobby Flay demo alone -- he was my favorite "enemy" of Iron Chef Morimoto back in the day, LOL...
Btw - love that cake website, the travel suitcase was the best. Also see...
