The blog, a Very Good Taste, has come up with 100 things every good omnivore should have tried at least once in their life. When I first saw the list popping up on other food blogs I thought "no way, I probably haven't eaten any of these things". Boy was I wrong. More than half I've tried (some I think I might have but I honestly can't remember). I'm looking forward to see how Mr. L, my mom and my grandmother fare on the list. And of course I now have a list of foods I need to go try! (Yes, I did have to use Wikipedia to look some of this stuff up).
You can check out the original post here.
Here is my list and instructions on how to participate in this Meme.
1) Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.
2) Bold all the items you’ve eaten.
3) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.
4) Optional extra: Post a comment at www.verygoodtaste.co.uk linking to your results.

So I've tried at least 61 out of 100. Maybe more as things like Catfish I may have had as a kid but don't remember. And I realize this list is probably not definitive, but I still found it fun. Just because I've tried some of these things once, doesn't mean I'll eat them again (hate Borscht). As for crossing stuff off? I started to, things like Snake or Roadkill are not things I'd search out. But then I never thought I'd eat Snails or Sea Urchin so what the heck I'll leave them on the list...who knows what culinary adventures are in my future!
The crab photo? Taken several years ago by me at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
UPDATE: Andrew at Very Good Taste has done a follow up of his Omnivore's Hundred explaining how he came up with the list and explaining how certain foods ended up on it. Check out his follow up post here. I've also had my mom and Uncle do this and am looking forward to having all my family participate and see what items we all haven't eaten!
