RUM-BA - Today is a good day. Today is National Rum Day. And this summer we seem to be all about the rum. Dark Rum. Our favorite rum this year happens to be Trader Vic's Authentic Dark. It goes very good with Mexican Coke. Simple. Clean. Maybe throw in a lime, but no special mixing, no other ingredients. Wonderful.
TRADER VIC'S - Mr. L, who was born in San Francisco, still remembers going to Trader Vic's for dinner as a kid. And though the San Francisco version is now closed there are Trader Vic's going up all over the world. This month a Trader Vic's just opened in Kuwait and a Trader Vic's Mai Tai Lounge opened in Dubai in May. I enjoyed the one in San Francisco too, but probably won't head that far east to visit the new versions.
TIKI PARTY - You can buy Trader Vic's syrups, cocktail mixes, sauces, salad dressings, t-shirts and a slew of other stuff on the Trader Vic's website here. A RUM IN HAND - And since last National Rum Day I left you with a photo of our Motu in Bora Bora I thought today only fitting that I do the same. This is the view off the back of our 'hotel room'...where we sat with nice fruity rum drinks just chillin' and enjoying the day. National Rum Day! Oh happy day! Ahhhh ... the possibilities! Rum cake, Rum marinades, Rum sauces, did I mention Rum Cake? Perhaps it could be modified to National Rum Week? :-D

Lara - Rarely go to Reno, do we need to go just to go to Trader Vic's? Road Trip!
